The Team Awareness Kit is a suite of geospatial mapping tools that lets tactical data be generated, visualized and shared on a map. Think of it as Google Maps with a great deal more underneath. It covers applications for Android (ATAK), Windows (WinTAK) and the browser (WebTAK), plus a server component, TAK Server.
Authorized users can pull the executables and documentation from the TAK.gov products tab.

TAK clients will run peer-to-peer for basic work, but a TAK Server is what makes it operational. The server is what carries reliable data sharing, user management and logging across different networks and separated locations.
ATAK is the Android version of TAK: a situational awareness tool built for military and first responders. It draws maps, sensors and real-time communications into one common operating picture, so a team can share what it sees, work a mission together, and decide on something better than a guess.
iTAK is the iOS version of TAK, and it does the same job as ATAK: maps, sensors and live communications in a single common operating picture.

Yes. Every tier carries full administrative access, so you can upload, manage and distribute whatever plugins your work calls for.
You do, without qualification. Your server instance is private to your organization, and data is stored inside the server's own geographic region, which is US-based. Servers carrying the compliance addon add the specific retention policies regulated government work requires.
Yes, at any time. Scaling up or down as the team changes is expected, not an exception. Adding seats moves you along the same rate card, so a larger count lowers the rate on the seats you already hold as well as the new ones. Contact support and we will work out the change with you.
There is one plan, priced per user, per year, and the rate falls as the seat count rises. Seats are charged in graduated bands, the way tax brackets work: the seats inside each band pay that band’s rate, and the totals are added together. Nothing is ever recalculated at a single flat rate, so adding a seat can only ever add money.
What that works out to per user is the effective rate, and it is published at every threshold. Ten seats cost $1,200.00 a year, which is $120.00 a user. Twenty-five cost $2,310.00, or $92.40 a user, and fifty cost $4,500.00, or $90.00 a user. Above 50 seats, pricing is by quote — contact sales. The full rate card lists every threshold, and the pricing calculator gives an exact figure for any seat count.
The compliance addon is $10,800.00 per server, per year. It covers CJIS Security Policy alignment, SOC 2 alignment and NIST 800-53 control mapping, together with the security artifacts, STIG evidence and audit support that go with them.
It is a flat charge on the server, not a per-seat one, so it costs the same whether the server carries one seat or three thousand. Add it with the checkbox on the pricing calculator.
Servers are hosted in AWS GovCloud, a DISA-compliant, DoD-authorized environment that supports Impact Level 4 workloads for Controlled Unclassified Information. On top of that we apply our own application-layer and network-layer controls to align with IL4 security objectives for sensitive but unclassified work.
FedRAMP matters for a great deal of government IT, but its structure can constrain the flexibility and interoperability that real-time environments like TAK depend on. Building to DoD IL4 keeps the protection CUI requires while preserving the operational freedom and fast integration that situational awareness actually needs.
Servers run on RedHat instances inside AWS GovCloud. Firewall rules are strict, SSH access is disabled, and root login from outside is blocked, which is what keeps the network perimeter defensible.
TLS 1.3 protects every client-server exchange in transit. Everything at rest is encrypted with AES-256 inside a decentralized database, which also improves resilience and reduces the blast radius of any single failure.
Frontend and backend are strictly separated. Backend APIs and services sit on isolated infrastructure behind firewalls that block public IP access outright, and only authorized internal systems are permitted to talk to them.
Role-based access control enforces least privilege across every system. Administrative access is tightly controlled, and backend APIs sit behind IP allowlists that keep them away from public exposure.
VMDR agents scan every node daily and reports refresh hourly, so a new threat surfaces quickly. System components and software packages are patched on a schedule, and every patch is tested and validated before it is deployed.

No. EOTAK Stack is a standalone tool for managing your ATAK client and its resources. It is at its best next to an EOTAK Server, but it does not require one.
