    Dispatch and vehicle location put the cruiser on a map, and that is where the map stops. The moment an officer steps out of it, their position goes back to being something they have to report, on a channel that is already busy.

    The person who matters most is the one who just walked away.

    A perimeter, a building search, a foot pursuit into a back yard, a deputy alone on a rural welfare check. Everyone else on the call is estimating a location, and the supervisor deciding where to send the next unit is estimating hardest.

  3. Across the line

    Task forces do not stop at the boundary.

    Mutual aid, a regional detail, a search that crosses two counties. The units next to you belong to agencies on other systems. TAK is an open standard, so joining is a client and a certificate rather than a procurement cycle and a new radio contract.

What you run

Four parts. Your agency holds the middle one.

Nothing here is proprietary.

  • Your own server A managed TAK server with full administrator access. We host it, patch it and keep it up; what gets written on it belongs to your agency.
  • Free, published clients ATAK on Android, iTAK on iOS, WinTAK on the desktop. All three are published at no cost, so you are buying a server rather than a license for every officer.
  • Beside dispatch, not instead of it TAK carries Cursor on Target, an open message standard. It runs alongside dispatch and the radio and does not ask you to replace either one.
  • The record, afterwards MARS replays a finished call or a whole shift from the server’s own record: every unit, on a timeline you can scrub, measure and export. It is included on every plan.

CJIS, stated correctly

There is no such thing as a CJIS certification. The FBI says so plainly, and a vendor who claims to hold one has told you something about itself. What is real is meeting the requirements of the CJIS Security Policy, and if criminal justice information is going to touch this, we will walk your IT staff through exactly where that boundary sits.

AWS GovCloud when the state asks for it

Servers can run in AWS GovCloud, engineered against the IL4 control set. Whether your state requires that is worth settling before you buy rather than after, and it is one of the things the compliance addon covers.
